London Roof Garden - Tavistock Place
The roof garden at Tavistock Place is situated on top of The Methodist Church in Great Britain’s head office. It has been designed with a number of things in mind - a connection to the Methodist Church’s heritage as a place of healing, a connection to God and nature, and our changing climate. The garden will be used by staff as a place to rest and connect to nature and God during the working day.
The healing benefits of plants and nature has long been know. Even just looking at plants has proven to improve hospital patients conditions. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, wrote Primitive Physic in 1770 which was all about the healing power of plants. This has been a leading inspiration to the planting palette within the garden.
